Wp2BB 1.4 available for download.

Changes in this version:

• Removed credits in the forum messages
• Added ‘exclude categories’ setting. Insert a category ID or a comma separated list of IDs in this input box of the Wp2BB configuration screen, and no topics will be created in the forum for new WordPress entries in those categories

New feature in version 1.4. This post should not create a topic in the forum as it belongs to category 7, which I have configured to be excluded from the forum in the Wp2BB settings.

The Wp2BB widget

Wp2BB 1.2 includes a widget that displays the most recent messages in your PhpBB forum. Three parameters can be configured:

• Title: The widget title displayed in your sidebar
• Number of messages: How many messages to display
• Forums to inspect: Comma separated list of forum ID’s that will be included in the search. This is useful if you do not want to show the latest messages from all your PhpBB forums, but just those you use with Wp2BB or those related to your blog.

See it working in the “Recent forum responses” section of the sidebar of this blog.

If you want the topic in the forum created for your post or page to include a message with some text other than the default (as set in “Topic message text” in Wp2BB admin), simply include a ‘msg‘ custom field in your entry with the desired text. Wp2BB will use this text and not the default when creating the correspondent topic in the forum.

Remember, you can use some text replacement:

{$post} Wordpress post text
{$title} Wordpress post title
{$purl} Wordpress post Permalink

For instance, in this very post I have included a ‘msg’ custom field with the value:

‘This is a custom message for the post “{$title}” in the blog’

Check the correspondent topic in the forum (by clicking in the “x messages in the forum” link below) and check the PhpBB topic text.

Changes in version 1.1:

• Fixed Critical bug causing Wp2BB to update *all* messages in the forum for a particular topic (instead of just the first one) when updating the related post in WordPress

After a few days of hard work, this website is finished and Wp2BB version 1.0 is ready for download. Simply click on the ‘Download’ tab above and get the wp2pp-1.0.zip file. Install it, test it and don’t forget to send us feedback.

Wp2BB version 1.0 has been developed using WordPress 2.6.2 and PhpBB 3.0.0, but it will probably work with lower versions. Please let us know if Wp2BB works with your WordPress and PhpBB versions.

A new topic in the forum will not be created for this post. This can be achived by adding a “forum” custom field with “0” value to the post before publishing it.
